FROM THE EAST

My Brothers, the beacon of Masonic Light we call Collabergh – Radium Lodge No. 859; of which we are proud to be called one of its members, is now embarking on its 102nd year of Masonry.

You’re elected and appointed Officers met over the summer and have a high degree of anticipation for the coming years Trestleboard.  There will be degree work, Community service, and Social programs for all who wish to participate.  We cannot forget as well, the very tasty pre-meeting dinners created by our in-Lodge Chef, Brother Kevin Young, and the wonderful opportunity they always provide for fellowship!

I personally extend deep gratitude and thanks to our most recent Past-Master, R:.W:. George Kyriazis, for all the hard work and dedication he gave to our Lodge these past two years as Master.  Some of the more noteworthy items accomplished under his term was the setting up of our Lodge Scholarship fund which has already assisted a number of our Brethrens Children or Grandchildren, planning and MC’ing our 100th  Anniversary celebration, and implementing the already mentioned very popular pre-meeting dinners.  George also tirelessly visited sick Brethren and widows, as well as traveled extensively throughout our Masonic District during his 2 years representing Collabergh – Radium with dignity and honor.

If, as Master, I can direct our Lodge to achieve even half of what George achieved, that would be considered a huge success.  Thank you again R:.W:. George Kyriazis!

On a sad note, our Lodge room and all our community involvement and social activities will miss the dedication and service provided by our beloved Brother, R:.W:. Walter S. Gillis, who laid down the working tools of life last year.  I have been an active participant in most all of what our Lodge has done during the 13 years I have been a member …my 14th will be my first ever without Brother Walter’s guidance and inspiration, both personally and in our Lodge room.  Brother Gillis will be dearly missed, and fondly remembered.

With all the above having been said, I thank each of you for the Masonic light you spread and share in every aspect of your lives every day, and hope that at some point during the year you find your way to Our Lodge in Nelsonville and enjoy the fellowship guaranteed every Brother in attendance.
